The Transfer Series: Three Players Tottenham Needs To Sign

Tottenham managed to finish third in what was supposedly a two-way horse race for the Premier League title last season.

They seemed pumped at the start of the season following back to back wins against Middlesbrough and Manchester City, but since the win against the Citizens they’ve gone on to draw four games in a row which are mainly down to the fact that they lack quality options up front.

Vincent Janssen has just one league goal to his name this season, and it came courtesy of a spot-kick against Leicester City. With Harry seemingly overwhelmed with the burden of being Spurs’ main goal outlet, the North London side will probably be in the market for a new striker in January.

They also need to inject some pace and trickery into their midfield, so it’s quite likely we’ll see Pochettino bring in a new midfielder in January – let’s take a look at three players they could sign;

Amadou Diawara

Tottenham currently boasts of two of the best midfielder’s in the Premier League, Victor Wanyama and Dembele although there isn’t much strength in depth regarding Spurs’ midfield.

The North London outfit needs to acquire a box-to-box midfielder and who better to sign than Napoli wonderkid Amadou Diawara.

Napoli isn’t keen on letting the 19-year-old playmaker leave the team as they recently rejected a £34m bid from Spurs. The rejected bid is not expected to deter Tottenham in their pursuit of Diawara as they’re expected to table a larger another offer soon.

Diawara’s age plays a huge role as to why Spurs are interested in signing him as he looks to be a top quality midfielder despite being a 19’year-old. He’s evidently got loads of potential and a move to Spurs could help him realise that potential.

Marcelo Brozovic

Spurs have been linked with Brozovic in recent weeks with some uncertainties looming around the midfielder’s future with Inter Milan.

He was left on the fringes by Frank de Boer, but following the Dutch tactician’s sacking he could be in with a shout of earning a regular starting berth at Internazionale, if he doesn’t though, Spurs may make a strong attempt to sign him.

Spurs’ presence in the Champions League seems to be causing some fatigue in the squad, thus the need for a quality addition in midfield. Should Tottenham make it into the Champions League knockout stages they’d require players to fill in for each other in a squad rotation system in a bid to keep the team’s key players fit and fresh.

Tottenham’s forwards have found it hard to score goals as of late with the likes of Dele Alli, Eriksen and Lamela yet to find form this season.

Chadli’s sale last summer raised some eyebrows, and it’s already looking like a bad decision seeing as Tottenham are in dire need of an attacking-minded midfield player – Bruma, though, could be the answer to Tottenham’s problems.

Reports claim that Tottenham scouts have been actively scouting him In the Turkish top-flight this season ahead of a possible winter swoop.

The Galatasaray attacking midfielder has four goals and three assists to his name this season in the Turkish Super Lig – his scintillating performances have prompted Pochettino to keep an eye on him ahead of the January window, and he could potentially add some much needed zest going forward for Tottenham.

Bruma has 18 months left on his current deal with Galatasaray and doesn’t seem ready to enter into talks over a new contract with his club. It will probably take a fee in the region of £15m to sign Bruma in January.
