Manchester United Raphael Varane

Manchester United not done in transfer market

Man Utd, earlier this week, completed the signing of Paul Pogba from Juventus in a record £89m deal.

Manager Jose Mourinho has hinted that the arrival of the France international was the last piece of incoming transfer business conducted by the Red Devils this summer, but the latest reports have suggested otherwise.

ESPN, via MEN, claims that United are still in the market for an experienced centre-back and plan to sign either of Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci or Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

United have an enormous task ahead of them if they intend to sign Bonucci from Juventus. It looks very unlikely that Juventus will allow their star defender to leave so close following the departure of Pogba.

The 29-year-old was linked with Manchester City earlier in the transfer window, and a transfer fee of £50m was touted by various media outlets back then.

Meanwhile, Varane, despite the suggestions that he is frustrated at the lack of first-team football at Madrid, recently claimed that he doesn’t to leave his current club this summer.

The report from ESPN has also claimed that United will have to sell a number of players before they can make another signing in the transfer window.

The likes of Juan Mata and Bastian Schweinsteiger are expected to leave the club in the coming days.
