Roberto Soriano

Soriano secures a move to the La Liga

The 25-year-old versatile midfielder has put pen to paper in a five-year contract with the Yellow Submarines. He is the type of player needed to strengthen their midfield to give them a shot at the La Liga title in their 2016/17 campaign.

Soriano joined Sampdoria in 2009 after rising in the youth ranks in Bayern Munich before he was loaned to Empoli. A deal was being made for the Italian box-to-box midfielder to join Napoli but it fell through because the fee was not paid before the deadline, it was said to be delayed as a result of problems in image rights.

The Italian scored eight goals in 40 games for the Blucerchiati outfit last season which so far has been his best performance in goal sense.

Roberto Soriano has made eight appearances for Italy after making it to the senior team in 2014 but could not get a place in Antonio Conte’s squad for the just concluded Euro 2016

Soriano would be revealed on Wednesday night at El Madrigal in front of the Villarreal fans and the media.

Soriano has joined Denis Cheryshev from Real Madrid and Alexandre Pato from Brazilian outfit Corinthians to move to Villareal.
