Serie A Matchday 12 Roundup + Highlights

Roma closed in on Juventus thanks to a sublime hat-trick from Mohamed Salah that saw the Rome outfit secure a 3-0 victory over Bologna in one of their best performances at the Stadio Olimpico this season.

Juventus won against Chievo Verona hours before Roma’s game kicked-off, but Salah’s hat-trick ensured things remained the same at the top of the table.

Mario Mandzukic opened the scoring for Juve against Chievo in the first-half, although the home side bagged a second-half equaliser courtesy of Sergio Pellissier.

Juve’s central midfield maestro, Miralem Pjanic then scored the winner in the 75th minute via a well-executed free-kick thus clinching a 2-1 win for the Bianconerri.

AC Milan managed a 2-1 win over Palermo as Gianluca Lapadula played the part of super-sub to earn Milan the win.

Suso had opened the scoring for Milan before IIija Nestorovski gave Palermo something to smile about as they were without a win in five Serie A outings – Lapadula ensured the proceedings went Milan’s way as they managed to keep pace with league leaders Juventus.

Inter Milan seems to have developed a new dynamic and spark in the aftermath of Frank de Boer’s exit from the club. They secured a 3-0 victory over strugglers Crotone and looked set to revive their title aspirations in the coming weeks.

Ivan Persic hit the back of the net to break the deadlock late into the game before Mauro Icardi proved his doubter’s wrong yet again as he bagged a brace in the closing stages of the tie.

Another 3-0 win was witnessed as Atalanta thumped Sassuolo to extend their winning run to four games.

Alejandro Gomez’s third goal of the season gave Atalanta the lead while Mattia Caldara and Andrea Conti completed the rout before halftime.

Massimo Maccarone scored two goals as he led Empoli to their first away win in the Serie A this season against Pescara. Maccarone’s goals came early in the first half while Manuel Pucciarelli and Riccardo Saponara also got on the scoresheet.

Lucas Oscampos helped Genoa earn a point against Udinese as both sides drew 1-1 with Udinese’s goal coming courtesy of Cyril Thereau, while a similar set of events saw Sampdoria rescue a 1-1 draw at Fiorentina with Luis Muriel cancelling out Bernardeschi’s goal.

Saturday’s feature game saw Lazio fight to secure a point against high-flying Napoli with as goals from Keita and Hamsik cancelled each other out to see both sides share the spoils.

The pick of games last weekend was considered to be Torino's emphatic 5-1 win over Cagliari. Torino has looked like contenders for a Champions League spot so far this season, and should they continue their performances it’ll be difficult for them to be stopped at any point.

Andrea Belotti bagged a brace as he took his tally up to eight goals for the season.

Belotti opened the scoring, Adem Ljacic and Marco Benassi then increased Torino’s lead right before Melchiorri pulled one back for Cagliari. The second half saw Daniele Baselli score the fourth of the game before Belotti killed the game off.
