five transfer - lukaku to chelsea

Fans are praying that these five transfers don’t go through

Fans don't want to see their teams lose their best players during the transfer window. They get pretty jealous to see rival clubs signing some of the best players around; worse still, it greatly irritates them to see their club sell it’s best players to a direct rival.

As the transfer window nears its July resumption, we discuss five transfers, many fans are praying shouldn't materialize.

Many would argue that most of the transfer reports currently flying in the media are absolutely bogus. However, you’d agree with me that nearly all the transfers that eventually went through were once rumours. Those transfer stories are rife again, some of which are not too far from the truth. Some fans won’t want these five transfers to materialize.

1. Eden Hazard to Real Madrid

This would ‘kill’ Chelsea fans. The possibility of Eden Hazard leaving Chelsea is one that is dreaded by nearly every blues fan. Be that as it may, Real Madrid is rumoured to be in desperate need of his services.

As it stands, Eden Hazard looks happy at Chelsea. He’s loved by the Blues faithful, he’s well paid and well treated by everyone at the club, including his teammates. However, we’ve seen Real Madrid poach players who were even more comfortable at their clubs.

Hazard has been phenomenal for Chelsea since signing for them in 2012 from Lille. He has grown to become one of the Premier League’s most astounding attackers. Hazard would break many hearts if he leaves Chelsea and finding his replacement will be one hell of a task.

2. Antoine Griezmann to Manchester United

One of the most talked about transfer rumours so far is the whisper that Antoine Griezmann from Atletico De Madrid could join Manchester United. TalkSport reports that the Frenchman has agreed to a deal in principle with the Old Trafford club. Griezmann’s buyout is set at £89 million and the Red Devils are prepared to meet it.

The attacker has emerged as one of the best players in the world, behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Since joining Rojiblancos from Real Sociedad in 2014 for a reported £24 million, Griezmann’s value has soared immensely, owing to his stellar performances.

This season, he’s scored sixteen goals in La Liga and twenty-five in all competitions. He’s also provided nine assists for his teammates. It’s no surprise why he’s been identified by Jose Mourinho as the Red Devil’s top summer transfer target for the upcoming window.

With his amazing talent and skill, rival fans of Manchester United would be praying that a deal for Griezmann, never sees the light of day.

3. Alexis Sanchez to Chelsea

Perhaps not just to Chelsea, but to any other top European club; whatever the case, Arsenal supporters must be Praying hard that their club can keep Alexis Sanchez beyond 2019. As far as this season goes, Sanchez has been a source of joy for Arsenal supporters. Sanchez has scored twenty-four goals in all competitions this term and provided twelve assists.

Sanchez’s future won’t be up for so much debate if he’d signed a contract extension by now, but contract talks have been back and forth with the Chilean who has less than fourteen months on his current contract.

Sanchez sparked some more speculation about his future when he said after a game with Chile:

“I am happy in London and hope to finish my contract there[London]…“I’d like to stay in the city but with a team that is winning things, that has a winning mentality.”

That comment left it open for debate on which London club he was actually referring to. If the former Udinese winger, ends up stabbing Arsenal in the back and leaves, it’s best he doesn’t join Chelsea, else he’ll hear boos in his dreams.

4. Diego Costa to China

Regardless of who is being touted to replace him, according to transfer rumours; the majority of Chelsea fans are praying that Diego Costa doesn’t leave in the summer.

Costa has proved himself in England where he’s currently enjoying his most prolific season since joining Chelsea in 2014. The Spaniard can be relied on for goals and has shown this on numerous occasions.

Costa has reportedly been offered £30 million-per-year to join Chinese Super League side, Tianjin Quanjian. That money would make Costa the world best-paid footballer.
Conflicting reports from
SkySports say Tianjin Quanjian’s billionaire owner, Shu Yuhui, has told the media about a verbal agreement for the Brazilian-born Spaniard; whereas the club released this statement:

“With regards to the current widespread rumours of Chelsea player Diego Costa joining Tianjin Quanjian, the club would like to make clear that no discussions have taken place regarding the transfer of Diego Costa.”

Chelsea fans would be praying that it stays that way.

5. Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea

Evertonians have already been hurt by Romelu Lukaku’s refusal to sign a new contract. His reason being an undying ambition to play Champions League football and win trophies. They’ll be brokenhearted if he leaves. Fans from the Blue half of Merseyside will hope and pray that the Belgian striker can remain at the club for at least one more season.

Everton will put their foot down and hold out for as much as they can get on Lukaku’s buyout fee which stands at £90 million. Transfer rumours have it that Chelsea is preparing a bid in excess of £75 million for the former Anderlecht hitman.
