Bundesliga Week 6

Bundesliga Week 6 Roundup + Highlights

Schalke grabbed their first win of the season with both hands as they ran out 4-0 winners over Borussia Monchengladbach on Sunday evening.

Breel Embolo scored a brace with Choupo-Moting and Leon Goretzka also getting their names on the scoresheet. The result provides Schalke with a launch-pad following their abysmal start to the season.

Schalke are currently 18th on the log with three points while Gladbach sit above them in ninth place having amassed ten points in six games.

Sunday’s other fixture ended in a goalless draw as either Mainz or Wolfsburg failed to find the back of the net at the Volkswagen Arena.

Wolfsburg’s inability to hit the back of the net in recent fixtures has upset the club’s supporters. The fans failed to hide their feelings as they booed the Wolfsburg players off the field following the result against Mainz.

Bayern Munich was held to a 1-1 draw by Cologne at the Allianz Arena. The result served as a blemish on Bayern’s 100 percent record. Cologne is the first Bundesliga side to have come away with a point at the Allianz this season.

Ancelotti will be keen on putting this game behind him in a bid for Bayern to continue their spell of domestic dominance.

Saturday’s late kick-off saw Dortmund succumb to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen. Admir Mehmedi and Javier Hernandez scored the goals which earned Leverkusen the three points.

Hertha Berlin continued their impressive run with a 2-0 victory over Hamburg which sees them currently sit at the 2nd place, just three points behind league leaders Bayern Munich.

Ingolstadt failed to keep Hoffenheim at bay as the away side secured a 2-1 win courtesy of goals from Sandro Wagner and Kerem Demirbay.

Werder Bremen has begun to show signs of promise under caretaker-manager Alexander Nouri following an exciting 2-2 draw against Darmstadt.
