Alvaro Morata - The Perfect Player For Conte’s Chelsea

Done deal! Real Madrid’s academy graduate, Alvaro Morata will henceforth play for Premier League Champions, Chelsea. Fleet-footed, young and has a sixth-sense for goal, Morata is made for the Premier League and will most definitely be a for Antonio Conte’s Chelsea.

A long-awaited reunion is about to take place at Stamford Bridge. It’s one that involves a 47-year-old Italian and a 24-year-old Spaniard. In 2014, Antonio Conte identified Alvaro Morata as the perfect player to inject some fluidity, pace and guile into the Juventus attack.

The hierarchy at the Old Lady dragged feet on signing the striker and Conte went ahead to hand in his resignation.
However, Juve’s newly appointed manager, Massimiliano Allegri, had taken a leave from Conte and insisted that Morata is signed. This time, the Old Lady bulged and Alvaro Morata soon became a Bianconeri.

Three years from that 2014 summer transfer window, Alvaro Morata, now back in the colours of Los Blancos after a buy-back clause has been activated by the Spanish giants, is on his way to Chelsea; guess the Chelsea manager signing him?

The signs are there for all to see. Alvaro Morata is by no means a gamble for Chelsea. The Spanish international is bound to be a huge success at Chelsea next season, here’s why.

Alvaro Morata - The perfect Premier League striker

He might not have all the muscles of Romelu Lukaku, but Morata’s shape and build suit the Premier League just fine. We’ve seen strikers like Sergio Aguero, Fernando Torres and Diego Costa who transferred from La Liga to set Premier League ablaze with goals. These were players plying their trade in a division famed for being less physically demanding, yet they adapted and did just fine in the Premier League.

Being over 6-foot tall, Morata is a huge threat in aerial duels – he’ll get plenty in England. The Spaniard also has plenty pace, which by the way, is a prerequisite in the Premier League. His time in Italy has also helped in building him as a player who just isn’t afraid to take a tackle. Sounds like a Premier League striker yet?

Morata has proven he can score goals at the biggest stage

Juventus and Real Madrid are two of the biggest clubs in Europe – the fact that they both faced each other in last season’s Champions League final clearly highlights this. Alvaro Morata has played for both clubs and achieved success with both. Indeed he has suffered greatly from lack of playing time at Madrid; you can’t fault the youngster, his manager (Zizou) simply prefers someone who doesn’t deliver nearly as much.

Morata 24, has proven he can score goals if given the opportunity. His time at Juventus saw him score crucial goals for the Turin giants, leading to a buy-back by his boyhood club. Last season, he scored fifteen La Liga goals, despite coming on as a substitute twelve times and starting a paltry fourteen games. At Chelsea, Morata will have more game-time and trust he’ll start with a bang!

Is Morata wort all the money?

The transfer market has gone haywire, Premier League clubs have so much money to throw about and players now cost twice their value. So, yes, Morata is worth every penny Chelsea spends on him. The 2017 Champions League winner is only 24 and has all the qualities of a centre-forward who can rip defences to shreds and help the Blues achieve more glory. Good business Chelsea!
