Mauro Icardi

Striker in talks with Arsenal and Chelsea

Transfer rumours linking Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi with a move to Premier League aren’t dying down.

Last month, Icardi was heavily linked with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea, but the rumours seemed to disappear for a while after he professed his love for Inter on his Twitter account.

However, Italian publication Il Messaggero has now claimed that Icardi is set to fly to London to conduct transfer negotiations with Arsenal and Chelsea.

Arsenal, who are also interested in Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, are looking for a striker in the market and manager Arsene Wenger has suggested that the North London club will be active in the transfer market in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also looking for a striker in the transfer market and have already made an unsuccessful attempt to sign Romelu Lukaku from Everton.

The 23-year-old striker is reportedly valued at around £40m-£45m by his club.

He joined Inter in 2013 and has managed to score 47 league goals for the club since then. Last season, he scored 16 goals and provided four assists for the Italian club in Serie A.

Serie A club Napoli are also reportedly interested in the player and have enquired about him.
