La Liga Matchday 10 Roundup + Highlights

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a superb hat-trick away at Alaves as Real Madrid put four goals past the home side which saw them retain their spot at the top of the table.

Deyverson opened the scoring for Alaves in the 7th minute but Ronaldo managed to put Real Madrid ahead just before half-time with a stunning brace which included a penalty in the 17th minute.

Ronaldo failed to score from the spot in the second half but Alvaro Morata’s 84th minute strike helped put the game to bed before Ronaldo completed his hat-trick having scored in the 88th minute.

Atletico Madrid did well to keep up with their city rivals in the title race as they managed outscored Malaga in what proved to be a six-goal thriller – it was a frustrating game for the referee though as he brandished ten yellow cards and two red cards in the tie.

Goals from Carrasco and Gameiro gave Atleti a two-goal cushion, Sandro Ramirez then pulled one back for the away side before Gameiro netted his second of the game thus leaving the scores 3-1 by half time.

Ignacio Camacho’s 64th minute strike gave Malaga a glimmer of hope but the potential comeback was disrupted by Carrasco’s second goal of the game which ultimately saw Atletico claim a 4-2 victory.

Granada put up a brave showing against Barcelona as they frustrated the Catalan outfit limiting their tally for the day to just one goal which came courtesy of an acrobatic strike by Rafinha in the second half.

Elsewhere, Sporting Gijon earned a hard-fought point against Sevilla but the result wasn’t enough for Gijon to move out of the relegation zone. Luciano Vietto put Sevilla in front in the fourth minute, a strike from Gomez in the 20th minute saw the home side hold out for a draw.

Sevilla sit fourth on the La Liga standings with 21 point, the Seville outfit are just three points adrift of league leaders Real Madrid.

Villarreal’s unbeaten run came to an abrupt end at Eibar following late strikes from Ivan Ramis and Pedro Leon.

It seemed to be another routine day for Villarreal when Bruno converted a penalty just before half-time but Eibar left It late and in the end they secured a 2-1 win at the Municipal de Ipurua.

The best game of the weekend came at the Estadio de Gran Canaria as Las Palmas completed an incredible turnaround to earn a point against Celta Vigo on Sunday.

A goal from Daniel Wass and a brace from in-form Iago Aspas saw Celta lead 3-0 at half-time, the second half though, saw Pedro Bigas kick-start Las Palmas’ comeback goals from Johnathan Viera and Kevin-Prince Boateng followed to put both teams level at fulltime as the game ended 3-3.

Athletic Bilbao were held to a 1-1 draw by Osasuna in what was meant to be a dominant win for Bilbao. Oriol Riera put Osasuna in front in the 23rd minute before Raul Garcia put the hosts level in the 28th minute while Espanyol secured a slender 1-0 win over Real Betis courtesy of Diego Reyes.

Deportivo and Valencia cancelled each other out in what proved to be a thrilling 1-1 draw. Emre Colak opened the scoring for Deportivo before Rodrigo scored a second-half equaliser to earn the away side a point.
