Chelsea capped off the perfect weekend with a 2-0 win over Hull City with Diego Costa and Gary Cahill getting on the scoresheet. Costa seemingly rendered rumours about an exit null and void when he scored Chelsea’s first goal.
Cahill headed home an exquisite free-kick from Cesc Fabregas late in the second-half to put the game to bed.
Liverpool suffered a defeat at the hands of Paul Clement’s Swansea City as Fernando Llorente took his league tally up to eight goals with a brace at Anfield.
Firmino also bagged a brace, but Gylfi Sigurdsson’s 74th-minute strike gave Swansea the win which saw them climb out of the bottom-three.
Everton beat Crystal Palace by a slender 1-0 scoreline with Seamus Coleman getting his name on the scoresheet while Sunderland’s woes were further amplified by West Brom’s 2-0 win. Darren Fletcher and Chris Brunt were on target for the Baggies.
West Ham continued their post-Payet winning streak with a victory over Middlesbrough as Andy Carroll scored two goals and Jonathan Calleri added a third. Cristian Stuani scored Boro’s only goal, but it had no effect on the game’s outcome.
Manchester United recorded another draw with Stoke City on Saturday as they dominated the game but failed to make their chances pay which has more or less been the case for Mourinho’s men all season long.
Juan Mata scored an own goal which put Stoke ahead, but Rooney scored in the closing stages of the game in dramatic fashion to reach his 250th goal for Manchester United.
Watford held Bournemouth to a draw at the Vitality Stadium. Kabasele put Watford in front, but Josh King scored the equaliser for Bournemouth as they looked to trouble Watford more.
Troy Deeney then put his side back in pole position for the win, but Benik Afobe’s late strike meant both teams had to settle for a point.
Manchester City were hindered by another poor performance from Claudio Bravo as they were held to a draw by Spurs.
Sane and De Bruyne were on target for City whilst Alli and Son Heung-Ming got on the scoresheet for Spurs. City’s goals were basically handed to them as Hugo Lloris wasn’t sharp in goal, although it’s fair to say it was just a bad day in the office for the France international.
Southampton were too hot to handle as they put three goals past Leicester courtesy of strikes from James Ward-Prowse, Jay Rodriguez and Dusan Tadic.
Arsenal were lucky to come away with a victory against Burnley as Sean Dyche’s men nearly secured a point. Mustafi opened the scoring following Ozil’s corner kick. Burnley scored an equaliser via Andre Grey’s spot-kick.
A late penalty for what seemed to be offside in the first place, was converted by Alexis Sanchez to give Arsenal all three points.
