European SuperCup Preview Between Real Madrid & Sevilla

As in the past several years, tonight will be a typical European Super Cup game involving Spanish teams. Some would be saying Sevilla is constant and others are changing. Tonight that other team is going to be Real Madrid, who already beat Sevilla back in 2014, 2-0 was the result, and scorer of both goals was Ronaldo.

This game will be different because most of the key players in both teams are missing and there will be some changes regarding past season in tactical formations of both Sevilla and Real Madrid.

Christiano Ronaldo will be missing from starting lineup due to his longer vacation after winning Euro 2016 in France. Also, Pepe is not included in starting lineup because of the same reason. This will be a huge blow for Real, considering Ronaldo score 22 goals against Sevilla in his career, including five hat-trick games. That is something Sevilla fans are happy with. Tony Kroos and Gareth Bale are also excluded from today's match because they are too resting after their teams played semi-finals in Euro 2016.

Zinedine Zidane has many problems regarding tonight's match, but he placed his son on bench and eighteen-years-old Luca is going to feel what it looks like on Real's European matches

What are both team missing in this match ?

Starting goalkeeper Keylor Navas is injured and he is out for the match.

Missing this five players is going to be the nasty situation for Zidane, but if he is a half coach as he was a player, he will definitely find a way to resolve these problems before the game. According to the Spanish newspapers Kareem Benzema will not play also, but in his place will start Alvaro Morata who came back from Juventus. He wants to prove that previous transfer to Turin was a mistake and that he has quality for Real Madrid.

On the other side team from Andalusia has its own trouble, they are without three best players from past seasons and what is more important they are without the creator of their success coach Unai Emery. Gameiro, Krychowiak, and Enver Banega are sold and these three stars were the most powerful force in Sevilla's game last year. Jorge Sampaoli, newly appointed coach has high confidence before tonight's match because his team won five straight friendly matches in a row. But it remains the question, did the players adopted his ideas and style of play, because these friendly matches are not a real measure of strength. We will see if that is true tonight. Benoit Tremoulis and Michael Krohn Dehli are certainly out from squad due to injuries.

The referee will be Serbian Milorad Mazic, who is one of the UEFA top persons for this kind of matches. This will be his first Final of some European competition, but he is experienced very balanced referee who is not keen on showing yellow or red cards, as some referees do.

He has Euro and World cup games behind him and also several years in Champions League and League Europe.

It will be an interesting game in which we could expect a game of possession in the middle area of the pitch due to missing some crucial players in both teams who's job was to play fast counter-attacks, such as Ronaldo, Bale, Gameiro. Sevilla is in a difficult situation because of the new coach and new style of play, on the other hand, Real is without five players, and many players are still not fully rested from Euro 2016.

Cautious approach from both Sampaoli and Zidane is expected in first part of the game and if one team should score, we might expect game to develop in more attacking way, but if there are no goals in first half, it will be tactical game and we could see penalties and slow tempo game without risks.

Sevilla's record in Super Cup games is just one win in four matches, and Real has two wins from also four appearances, one win against Sevilla as we mentioned.

Here are the projected lineups for tonight's game :

Real Madrid:

Casilla; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Casemiro, Kovačić; Isco, Asensio, Vázquez; Morata

Rico; Mariano, Pareja, Carriço, Kolo; Iborra, N'Zonzi; Vitolo, Franco Vázquez, Kiyotake; Vietto

This year Super Cup game will be hosted in Trondheim, on Lenkerdal , Rosenborg BK home stadium capacity of 21,116 fans.

Our Production for the game is Real Madrid win to add the Super to their Champions League crown.
