The Transfer Series: Players Liverpool Needs To Sign

Liverpool currently sits atop the Premier League table but are just one point ahead of Chelsea. There isn’t much of a gap between the League’s top four sides which leaves the imagination to ponder about who will lift the title at the end of the season.

Liverpool has been fun to watch this season; their powerful attacking style has evidently resonated with the Anfield faithful as the fans are currently offering the Reds a large swell of support.

They’re arguably the best side going forward in the league, although their defense has been quite shaky this term. The Reds have scored more goals than any other team in the league this season (30), but they have the worst defensive record amongst the top four sides having conceded 14 goals.

Liverpool needs to improve their defense, and it’s likely that Klopp will opt to sign a new defender in January. Also, despite their quality up front, Jurgen Klopp is well aware of the fact that he needs to sign a forward to add more depth to the team; thus we take a look at potential targets for the Reds.

Lorenzo Insigne

Liverpool’s attack has been flawless so far, but with rumors circulating about Coutinho potentially leaving the club, Klopp will be wise to bring in a long-term replacement in January.

Lorenzo Insigne seems to be the most viable option for the Reds seeing as he’s yet to sign a new contract with Napoli refusing to meet his wage demands. He’ll reportedly cost Liverpool a fee of £30m but judging by his immense quality he’s certainly worth it.

Coutinho is on Barcelona’s radar, and it’s quite likely the Catalan outfit will table a massive bid for him in the summer. Signing Insigne will help familiarize him with Liverpool’s dominant style of play ahead of next season, and he could also serve as an excellent back-up for the time being seeing as Liverpool need to improve their squad depth.

The 25-year-old boasts of blistering pace, a goalscoring instinct, and good dribbling skills, he’s the ideal replacement for Coutinho and will prove to be a genuinely exciting signing for the Reds.

Arda Turan

Since signing for Barcelona, Arda Turan’s place amongst the world’s best midfielders has been taken by a host of players with the Turkey international failing to establish himself as a top performer at the Camp Nou.

He’s currently being utilized as a rotation option with Enrique unwilling to break his star-studded MSN lineup.

Jurgen Klopp could offer Turan a way out in January with Liverpool currently in need of reinforcements ahead of what will be a tightly contested race for the Premier League title.

Should Klopp acquire Turan’s services, he’ll most likely utilize him as a rotation option. However, his performances could see him break into the Liverpool first team set-up, but it’s dependent on some factors which include a member of Liverpool’s starting Xi playing poorly amongst other things.

Sead Kolasinac

Sead Kolasinac has been identified as a potential replacement for Alberto Moreno with Liverpool in dire need of a left-back. James Milner has been quite decent in left-back for Liverpool so far, although, he’s not quite been able to balance the frustrating aspect of being a left-back with his attacking duties.

West Brom is rumored to be interested in signing the Schalke defender, but with his former teammate Joel Matip currently plying his trade at Liverpool, it’s possible he could endorse a move for Kolasinac.

The 23-year-old will reportedly cost Liverpool £10m, which shouldn’t be a problem for a team of Liverpool’s caliber.
