Serie A Matchday 8 round up

Serie A Matchday 8 Roundup

Paulo Dybala struck a brace to secure all three points for Juventus in what proved to be a tightly-contested affair against Udinese. The Old Lady of Turin secured the victory following Napoli’s surprise defeat at the hands of Roma in Seria A Matchdat 8.

Juventus’ win put a gap between them and the rest of the pack with their closest rivals currently being Roma and AC Milan who both have 16 points apiece after eight games.

AC Milan moved up to third place following a dominant away win at Stadio M. A. Bentegodi.

A sixth consecutive Serie A title looks somewhat likely for Juventus following their bright start to the campaign; it’ll take something quite special for the rest of the table to catch up to them hence as things stand the title is already Juve’s to lose.

Napoli was poor up front against Roma which undoubtedly contributed to their defeat at the hands of Roma.

Milik’s absence was severely felt with his replacement Manolo Gabbiadini lacklustre for the entirety of the first-half.

Mertens came on in the second-half in an attempt to salvage something for the Naples outfit, but Mauricio Sarri’s side eventually succumbed to defeat.

Elsewhere, Inter Milan slumped to a 2-1 defeat against Cagliari. The Icardi fiasco appears to be affecting the team’s performance on the pitch, but Internazionale will be keen on moving on from the defeat in a bid to climb up the table in subsequent fixtures.

Pescara’s 1-1 draw against Sampdoria had a sense of humour attached to it as they scored an own goal, had a man sent off and missed a penalty. What are the odds!!!

Hugo Campagnaro put Pescara behind with an own goal before scoring the equaliser in the 23rd minute.

Fiorentina took on Atalanta in what turned out to be a goalless affair while Genoa’s fixture against Empoli also ended goalless.

Lazio launched a superb fightback against Bologna after going down 1-0 in the first-half thanks to Filip Helander’s 10th-minute strike.

Ciro Immobile scored a late equaliser for Lazio via a penalty to secure a draw at the Stadio Olimpico while Sassuolo managed to orchestrate a comeback and secure victory against Crotone.

Monday night’s fixture produced the most goals of the match-week as Torino travelled away to Palermo and thrashed the home side 4-1 at the Stadio Renzo Barbera.

The result took Torino to 4th place in the standings with 14 points, seven points behind league leaders Juventus.
