Premier League Matchday 18 Roundup: Chelsea Maintain Winning Run

Pedro and Eden Hazard were on target for Chelsea with the Blues putting three goals past Bournemouth in a routine manner. Pedro scored twice whilst Hazard put the ball into the back of the net on one occasion. The game ended 3-0.

Watford kicked off the Boxing day clashes with a 1-1 draw as Crystal Palace were unable to hang on to a lead handed to them by Yohan Cabaye.

Cabaye had opened the scoring for Crystal Palace in the 26nd-minute before Troy Deeney reached his 100-goal milestone for Watford with a deftly executed penalty kick in the 72nd-minute.

Olivier Giroud snatched the winner for Arsenal as they edged a 1-0 victory over West Brom. Arsenal were in control from start to finish as West Brom failed to muster up good goalscoring opportunities.

Burnley picked up a vital win at Turf Moor as they grabbed all three points against Middlesbrough thanks to Andre Gray’s 81st-minute strike which saw the home side win 1-0.

Leicester City moved closer to the relegation zone as Everton secured a 2-0 win over Ranieri’s men. Goals from Kevin Mirallas and Romelu Lukaku saw the Toffees earn a crucial three points.

Manchester United was in fine form against Sunderland as they picked up a 3-1 win courtesy of goals from Daley Blind, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Fabio Borini scored Sunderland’s consolation goal in what turned out to be a bad day for the Black Cats.

Elsewhere, West Ham seems to have gotten their fire back judging by their 4-1 win over Swansea. Andre Ayew, Winston Reid, Michail Antonio and Andy Carroll were all on target for West Ham whilst Swansea’s lone goal came through Fernando Llorente.

The defeat resulted in Bob Bradley getting sacked, with the club’s owners evidently keen on keeping the team afloat.

Manchester City had to wait till the 72nd-minute to put a goal past Hull City, and after that one went in, two more followed with Yaya Toure, Ihenacho and a Curtis Davis own goal helping Guardiola’s side to a 3-0 win.

Stoke City succumbed to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool despite opening the scoring courtesy of a Jonathan Walters strike. Adam Lallana clawed one back for Liverpool before Roberto Firmino got on the scoresheet as the Reds went 2-1 up.

Imbula scored an own goal thus taking Liverpool’s tally up to three goals then Daniel Sturridge came on to score Liverpool’s fourth goal of the game not long after he was substituted onto the pitch.

Tottenham picked up a 4-1 win over Southampton courtesy of goals from Harry Kane, Son Heung Ming and a brace from Dele Alli.

Southampton’s lone goal came through Virgil Van Dijk’s early header.
