Premier League Matchday 10 Roundup + Highlights

Stoke climbed further up the table following an emphatic 3-1 win over Swansea in what was a must-win game for both sides. Wilfried Bony opened the scoring against his former side in the 3rd minute, Wayne Routledge then scored a quick equaliser for the Swans.

Both teams had a goal apiece in the first half but the second 45minutes saw Mark Hughes men dominate following an own goal from Swansea’s Alfie Mawson and a second goal from Bony.

Sunderland failed to pick up points against Arsenal as they succumbed to a 4-1 defeat with their lone goal coming courtesy of a Jermain Defoe penalty. Braces from Alexis Sanchez and Giroud extended the Black Cats’ winless run in the top flight.

Manchester United huffed and puffed but was unable to put a goal past Tom Heaton despite having multiple chances to do so.

The game ended goalless, and Burnley earned a massive point thanks to Heaton’s magnificent performance in goal.

Gaston Ramirez and Stuart Downing helped Middlesbrough pick up their first home win in the Premier League campaign as Karanka’s side secured a 2-0 victory over Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth.

Manchester City’s winless run came to an end on Saturday following City four-goal rout at the Hawthorns in which Aguero and Gundogan both bagged two goals apiece.

Vincent Janssen scored his first league goal for Spurs as the North London outfit drew 1-1 with Leicester. The Foxes’ goal came through Ahmed Musa as he ran in behind Tottenham’s backline to but one behind Lloris.

Hull City’s woes continued as they succumbed to defeat away at Watford. Micheal Dawson scored an own goal in the 83rd minute although the goal was initially given to Troy Deeney before further examination concluded that it was indeed an own goal.

As expected Crystal Palace vs Liverpool turned out to be a real goal fest as the Reds bagged four and Crystal Palace scored two goals courtesy of James McArthur.

Emre Can opened the scoring for Liverpool before an error from Dejan Lovren led to McArthur’s first goal of the game. Lovren fixed his mistake when he headed home to grant Liverpool the lead in the 21st minute.

McArthur’s 33rd-minute goal put things level before Joel Matip’s first goal for Liverpool gave the Reds the lead at half time. Roberto Firmino struck home in the 71s minute to put the game to bed.

Southampton’s lack of cutting edge finishing allowed Chelsea to secure a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Eden Hazard and Diego Costa. Both goals were conceded as a result of sloppy defending. Hazard was left untouched as he drove into Southampton’s 18-yard-area before releasing a shot that went between Forster’s feet.

Costa struck a curler from outside the box in the 55th minute as the Saints’ backline gave him the space to do so. The loss was Southampton’s first home defeat since February.

Dimitri Payet was unable to lead West Ham to a win at Goodison Park as Romelu Lukaku, and Ross Barkley helped their side to a 2-0 victory against the Hammers.
