Manchester City and Celtic handed favourable draws in Champions League play-offs

The draw for the playoff round of Champions League 2016-17 was made today in the French city of Nice.

The draw included major European clubs like Manchester City, Celtic, AS Roma, FC Porto, Ajax and more.
British clubs Manchester City and Celtic were handed favourable draws. Both clubs will be favourites going into the first leg of their respective ties on August 16/17.

Pep Guardiola’s side will take on Romanian club Steaua Bucharest while the Scottish champions will face Israeli club Hapoel Be’er-Sheva.

The most exciting battle in the play-off round will take place between Porto and AS Roma. The tie between Villarreal and AS Monaco also promises to provide some exciting footballing action. Elsewhere Ajax will face Russian side FC Rostov and Swiss side Young Boys will take on Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach.

In remaining ties, Bulgarian side Ludogorests will take on Czech side FC Viktoria Plzen, FC Copenhagen will face Cyprus side APOEL FC, Irish minnows Dundalk will try their luck against Polish side Legia Warsaw, and Croatian club Dinamo Moscow will compete against Austrian side Salzburg.

The first leg of the play-off round will take place on August 16/17, and the return round will be played on August 23/24
