Champions League Wednesday Roundup: Tottenham Secures Emphatic Win

Tottenham picked up their second win in Group E as the London outfit put three goals past CSKA Moscow. Alan Dzagoev opened the scoring for CSKA before goals from Dele Alli, Harry Kane and an own goal from Igor Akinfeev saw Tottenham pick up a 3-1 win.

Bayer Leverkusen secured a 3-0 victory over Monaco, but despite that, the Ligue 1 outfit still finished top of the group with 11 points while Leverkusen will have to go into the knockout stages as a runner-up and Tottenham will be making their way into the Europa League.

Goals from Yurchenko, Brandt and an own goal from Morgan De Sanctis saw Leverkusen pick up the three points, which had no real effect on the team, though, seeing as they had already qualified for the next round.

Legia Warsaw cemented their place in the Europa thanks to a 1-0 win over Sporting Lisbon. A goal from Guilherme saw the Polish outfit sneak a 1-0 which sent them through to the knockout round of the Europa League.

Borussia Dortmund played out a 2-2 draw with Real Madrid which saw them finish top of Group F. A brace from Karim Benzema gave Madrid a two-goal lead, but goals from Aubameyang and Marco Reus helped Dortmund to a draw.

Leicester City succumbed to a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Porto in last night’s Group G clash. Goals from Andre Silva (2), Jesus Corona, Yacine Brahimi and Diego Jota saw the Foxes experience their biggest Champions League defeat of the season.

Elsewhere in Group G, Copenhagen secured a routine 2-0 win over Club Brugge courtesy of an own goal from Brandon Mechele and Mathias Jorgensen.

Gonzalo Higuain struck home twice to give Juventus a 2-0 win over Dinamo Zagreb. The result saw Juventus sit atop Group H with an unbeaten record.

French outfit Lyon was unable to secure a much-needed win over Sevilla as the game ended goalless thus sending Lyon to the Europa League whilst Sevilla finished second in the group.
