Bundesliga Matchday 7 Round Up

Bayern Munich failed to capitalise on Dortmund and Hertha’s 1-1 draw as Ancelotti’s side drew a second consecutive game in the German top flight against Frankfurt in Bundesliga matchday 7.

Frankfurt’s resilience and ingenuity were evident throughout the game as they managed to put two past a sturdy Bayern side thanks to goals from Huszti and Marco Fabian.

Robben opened the scoring for the Bavarian giants before in-form Joshua Kimmich continued his impressive goal-streak as he nicked Bayern’s second goal of the game.

Hoffenheim secured a 2-1 win over local rivals Freiburg in the Baden-Wurttemberg derby. The home side opened the scoring courtesy of a Sandro Wagner strike, but Florian Neiderlechner drew Freiburg level before former Leicester man Andrej Kramaric slotted home a penalty to win the game for Hoffenheim.

Elsewhere Cologne moved further up the table to second place with a win 2-1 against Ingolstadt. The victory put the Billy Goats just two points behind league leaders Bayern, and they’ll certainly be keen on continuing their excellent start to the season in the games to come.

Anthony Modeste was the pick of players in that encounter as he bagged a brace which sees him sit atop the top scorer's chart with seven goals. The loss against Cologne saw Ingolstadt plummet down the table.

Elsewhere, Monchengladbach took on Hamburg in what proved to be a goalless, yet memorable game. BMG were awarded two penalties in the tie – at some point in the game Hamburg was down to ten men, but Gladbach still didn’t find the back of the net.

Augsburg played out a 1-1 draw against a recuperating Schalke side following their poor start to the season. Nabil Bentaleb put Schalke in front before Baier scored the equaliser for Augsburg while Bayer Leverkusen succumbed to a disheartening home defeat against Werder Bremen which saw the visitors secure a 2-1 victory.

Mainz piled on the misery for Darmstadt as they extended the away side’s winless run to five games.

A 2-1 win saw De Blasis and Yunus Malli register their names on the scoresheet for Mainz while Jerome Gondorf scored nicked the constellation goal for the Darmstadt.

Wolfsburg’s poor start to the season continued against Leipzig as Emil Forsberg struck home in the second-half to get the three points in the bag for Leipzig. The loss saw Wolfsburg drop all the way down to 14th while Leipzig currently sits at third place in the Bundesliga table.
