Arsenal dealt multiple setbacks in centre-back pursuit

Arsenal is running out of time in their pursuit of an experienced centre-back.

The Gunners have been linked with Valencia centre-back Shkodran Mustafi for a decent amount of time now.

We have reported on the story on multiple occasions already, but the North London club are yet to reach an agreement with the La Liga club.

Arsene Wenger, on Saturday, revealed that he hopes to finalise the deal for the 24-year-old soon, but the latest report from Sky Sports doesn’t make for a good reading for the Arsenal fans.

Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has claimed that Valencia are adamant that they will only allow the German international to leave if his reported buy-out clause of £43.1million is met.

Now, Wenger doesn’t seem to agree with the valuation of the player and is expected to shift his focus elsewhere if Valencia don’t compromise on the price of the player.

The North London club have also been linked with West Brom centre-back Jonny Evans.

However, if the latest report from the Telegraph is to be believed, the Northern Ireland international is going to come any cheaper in the transfer market.

The Baggies have demanded £25m from the Gunners for the 28-year-old and it appears that the Gunners have hit yet another dead end in their pursuit of a centre-back.
